[Stoves] Burning Soft Wood

Dear Jeff
That is what I would call end-lit side-draft, a form of top lit updraft.
There is every reason to think it can burn very well, and I _might_ benefit
from having a flat plate creating a small air space along the fuel bed with
the air coming out at, but before, the chimney end. This would give you
preheated air without really having a grate, but sort of putting a grate
under the coals end. This might burn the coals better.
It would be easy to add - just throw in a rectangular plate and put the fire
on top. I am thinking of a 3/4 inh gap in the center.
I have been thinking of doing something like this with a Rocket stove to get
the coals up off the ground to burn better.
Regards
Crispin
