[Stoves] Daincha as a fuel

This week there were articles in the International Herald Tribune and the
New York Times about the use of a gasifier for generating power in the
village of Baharbari, Bihar, India. See links to these and related a reports
at:
http://gasifiers.bioenergylists.org/desibihar

The article reports the use of the fast growing, nitrogen fixing, "daincha"
as a fuel. I have heard of daincha being used as green manure and for
intercropping with rice or sugar cane. I have not heard of it used as a
fuel.

What is it like as a fuel? Is it like a straw or cane stalk or is it a woody
material? Is it used for cooking stoves?

Thanks

Tom
