This regards another take on the "melted cardigan" approach to cooking fuel
reduction. I have on occasion similarly wrapped an acrylic stocking hat over
a pot after it's gone to boil several minutes to continue RHC.
List members may or may not be aware of a novel fiberglass cloth RHC device
(it's actually a component of a Backpacker's camp kitchen gear, called the
Outback Oven). I'm referring to the "Pot Parka". It's priced above 3rd
World, but looks simple enough to fabricate so it's costly nature is most
likely only markup. It is placed directly over a cookpot, channeling stove
heat all around a pot's sides to exit out a hole in it's conical top... it's
basically an open bottomed collapsible fireproof hood -- taking the place of
the pot skirt on improved stoves and coindentally is also a "Tea Cozy" style
RHC. It's sized variously for 8"/10"/12" pots intended for Backpacking.
