[Stoves] Cooking on a Philips stove

When I was a youngster, the wood cook stove was an important part of the 
home heating system in the winter.  My grandmother did have two kitchens, 
one for summer and one for winter but both contained wood cookstoves..  We 
made do with just one which was usually too hot in the summer.  Canning and 
jam making on a wood stove are a very hot jobs!

Our wood stove also heated the hot water for use at the kitchen sink.  We 
didn't have an indoor bathroom at that time.
