Dear Jim,
no, we would not use conveyor belts etc.
The ICPS is more or less just as cheap as the ARTI retort. ( At least as
the fixed one which i know, i don't know a moveable ARTI kiln for 7 oil
drums?)
The only 2 differences would be:
A) instead of giving heat to 7 barrels at the same time (as they are
arranged in a circle)
heat is given to only 2 barrels in the front next to the fire box. Once
these
2 barrels are hot enough to give pyrolysis gases- this heat would be
initiating the remaining 6 oil drums.
B) I was referring to CRISPINS statement (..there is enough bio mass
left-overs in a forest...) in the sense that
first ordinary wood is carbonized in a forest, secondarily remaining
twigs, wood dust, leaves can be carbonized in addition in the already
existing installation under under the assumption that 8 oil drums are
used.
Under a researchers aspect it would be interesting what
will be the difference of yield:
-- all 7 oil drums heated at the same time (ARTI)
-- all 8 oil drums heated one pair (2) by one pair (ICPS) (in addition
insulated cover and side walls)
