Dear Jeff
Goodness Gracious, you are sharp tonight!!
((What do you mean... sharp tonight??? Jeff is sharp ALL the time!! :-)
I did indeed overlook the fact that Crispin wanted to run his gasifier
in char producing mode.
The char production would probably be in the range of 20% of the initial
bone dry biomass. this would result in about 30% of the original biomass
energy leaving the system as char.
In other words, only 70% of the wood energy is gasified, and 30% leaves
as char. Accordingly, he would need 4.78/.7 = 6.83 kG per hour of 15%
moisture wood, to yield sufficient gas energy to run his engine
producing 3.5 kW electricity and about 1.37 kG/hr char.
Sorry for the oversight, and thanks for cvatching it.
Best wishes,
Kevin
