Hello M. Pusparaj,

I hope that you do get funding from both government and local commercial
sponsors. I believe that it is important for younger technically inclined
persons like you and your fellow students to venture into the designing,
production and promotion of improved biomass cookstoves.

An important development might be in the area of fuels; for those who are
working on wood/charcoal fuelled stoves, the development of plant based oil
fuel for pressurized cookstoves takes things into a totally new dimension.
Bosch/Siemens is testing/promoting in the Philippines and possibly other
areas, the Protos stove that can use coconut oil and other plant based oils
as a fuel.

The beauty of this development is that the plant based oil fuels can be
produced right in the rural ivillages. This will brings biomass stove design
into new directions. There will be many more models that can be developed in
addition to the traditional wood/charcoal models. Already ethanol cookstoves
are being discussed more and morein this forum.

Hopefully more students like yourself will start taking over more and more
from the getting older developers who dominated the scene in the past
several decades.

It might be helpful to some if you can post photos of the cookstoves used in
your area. It appears that much of your state is desert so the availbilty of
biomass might be much less than in other India states.
