To All who will be at PCIA in India,
This message builds on David Whitfield's suggestion about getting together at
the PCIA in India next week.
The Monday before the meeting is a national holiday, Indian New Years
Day. I do
not yet know how they celebrate on Sunday and Monday. But I do know that
some/many places are closed on that Monday.
I arrive early morning on Sunday 18 March, and am staying at a private
residence
for which I do not yet have a telephone number (so contact is via e-mail at
present). But I will have a car and driver. Sunday and Monday are therefore
OPEN days for me. Any suggestions for informal gatherings are most
welcome. Perhaps the PCIA organizers could suggest some "point of
contact" or "phone of
contact" in Bangalore, especially for the Monday. But we are NOT expecting
PCIA to organize anything for us. Some of us who are attending would
just like
to "gather" and chat. Much depends on who arrives when.
I am staying in India for nine days after the conference ends. I am
doing both
the stoves field trip on Friday and the Mysore tourist trip on
Saturday. Sunday 25 March is an open day for me. My plans now include
a visit on Monday
26 March to the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) where major work is being
done on gasifiers, especially the larger ones. I believe that others would
also be very welcome to visit on that day also.
[[ Of little interest to others is that I expect to visit Hyderabad
(for stoves
work of course!!) on the final days that I am in India before returning home
early on Monday 2 April. ]]
Open to suggestions.
Paul
