Dear Sam
On the lighting issue there is a fairly simple answer. It is out of the
scope
of the stoves list though even though related. Low voltage LED solar
lanterns.
No heat, no fumes, no fiery deaths for children or burned down houses.
A small 4/6 Amp sealed battery, a white automotive LED light assembly,
and a very small solar panel can be bought and assembled together for less
money
than one would spend on kerosene lighting for a year.
This little system gives light you can read write or cook by. It provides
continuous light for up to
about.3 12 hour nights, and if used conservatively it can provide as much a
week or more of light
per charge. It also charges well with a little 1000 milliamp wall wart.
I have been making an using my own since about 1990. Some units are as much
as 15 years old and still
using the original a battery;.
