Not relevant to [stoves] but have you looked at the dasifier, this in
effect is a downdraught gasifier sitting on top of an updraught one
with he secondary air acting as an eductor to suck primary air
separately through each.
I've not seen it working but Das does melt copper alloys and it
actually looks like it would be possible to reach much higher
temperature by operating just the char burning section at the end of
a heating process started with whole wood.
