GERES will present a day of discussions at the COP/MOP in Bali entitled:

Affordable Technologies for Poverty Alleviation and Climate Change  
Mitigation:  Walking before Running

Date: Thursday, 6 December 2007
Location: Ballroom 1, Conrad Bali Hotel, Tanjung Benoa, Bali

The day will start off with a press conference from 10:00am to 11:00am  
to launch Carbon Solidarity Asia. In the afternoon from 3:30pm to  
5:30pm we will hold a roundtable that will explore the potential of  
low-tech energy solutions for mitigation and adaptation.

Such technologies, like improved cooking stoves, exist even in least  
developed countries and carbon funds are a means of achieving their  
massive scale dissemination. These technologies are often overlooked,  
however, in the quest for high-tech mitigation options.

GERES will host this event to examine these issues and the adequacy of  
present mechanisms for disseminating them.
