[Stoves] global warming

Hi everyone

Before doing back of the envelope calculations or thought experiments
that 'disprove' climate models developed by some of the worlds leading
scientists and peer reviewed by thousands of critical eyes I would
recommend analyzing in detail the models, or at least reading widely
the freely available papers by these scientists themselves. Believe it
or not, they haven't forgotten about water vapour feedback, nor do
they happen to 'ignore the period 1930-1970'. And there is a
significant discussion on melting ice. By all means do keep a
skeptical eye on it, but do check what is actually said by the authors
themselves, not from newspapers and magazines...

Encyclopedia Britannica is not an authoritive source :-) You might try
the WG1 of the IPCC:

http://ipcc-wg1.ucar.edu/wg1/wg1-report.html - from p28 of the
technical summary: "Direct emission of water vapour by human
activities makes a negligible contribution to radiative forcing.
However, as global mean temperatures increase, tropospheric water
vapour concentrations increase and this represents a key feedback but
not a forcing of climate change."

Those interested might also like to read contributions from Real
Climate: www.realclimate.org - a fascinating source where one can
easily loose a few hours if one isn't careful.

The following deal with some of the issues raised in recent messages:
