[Stoves] Diatomous earth insulative kiln bricks

Hi!
 
Is diatomous earth different from diatomaceous earth?   The dictionaries seem 
to make a distinction (referential to purity of content, I  gather, but not 
sure) and this is something I sort of would like to know  EXACTLY!
