[Stoves] Diatomous earth insulative kiln bricks

This diatomos (I'm not certain of my spelling) earth is already made up into bricks of an English house brick size, so I'm not shure what the binder would be. I bought a load secondhand many years ago from a potter near Glastonbury. Potters supplies do not seem to   stock them anymore. Some friends of mine "borrowed " some once for their glass blowing kiln and they managed to melt some.
 I shall just use them for this short course as there isn't time to get into brick making. I'll try that as time permits.
 I'm much obliged for the feedback and I'll post something about how it goes.
 PS: Dean,do you remember telling me to live in a haybox and make oars!
