> When half of the month salary goes for fuel and the rest is not enough for
food.for millions of people around the world the discussion has to be
brought down to that level. What we need is simple efficient clean burning
stoves and cheap biomass fuel which both can be poduced locally by local
resources. But for some it is easier to send a rocket to the moon than slove
simple problems on the earth.
thank you paal
you are right. yes research is needed. yes discussion has to happen. without
research and discussion we will not move forward.
BUT
out here in the field it is a matter of survival. as someone said the other
day to the question of higher food prices: we eat less, and less
nutritional, parents go hungry so the children can eat, every cent is spend
on feeding, no more education, no more new fuel efficient stoves bought when
the 3stone comes for free - in the end, no more forests. but then again,
here and in other places like here it wont matter anyway - soon we wont be
able to afford the food so we wont need the fuel to cook it. example. one
year ago 50 kg sack of rice 520 dalasi = $ 24.77 , today 700 dalasi = $
33.34 - both at todays exchange rate. average daily income per capita
according to un figures = $ 1
we need practical action now!!
cheers
george
