Dear Paul
I really appreciate your discussion of this topic and for persisting in the
detail of it because as you have seen, there are fundamental principles
emerging which can guide lots of researchers in future.
Telaire. Who are they and what do they have? How easily can we craft one?
You will need a pump of some kind to draw samples.
I saw a small machine, hand-held and extremely compact, demonstrated a few
weeks ago and it was not able to tell anyone anything it was so inaccurate
so be careful.
There is a new measurement technology developed by a man I met accidentally
last night in Johannesburg. He is from the Max Planck Institute in Germany.
Professor Annegarn from the University of Johannesburg is hosting him. The
Prof is going to use this new method of detecting particulates (whatever it
is) and we plan to install it in the stove testing centre at UJ. Prof
Annegarn is a key contributor/motivator establishing it. More will be
explained during the course of the week as I garner an understanding.
Hopefully this year will see the emergence of both technologies and
protocols that are a reliable guide for developers and provide the
meaningful certification of performance of techniques and devices.
Best regards
Crispin
