Dear All,


My Dad told of a story of when he was a youngster (maybe in grade school)
his Dad, my Grandfather, went to California for a vacation. During this
vacation they went prospecting with one of the local veteran prospectors.

This old prospector showed them how to make some of the best beans/lentils
west of the Mississippi. First one digs a hole in the ground and lines it
with rocks. Next start a fire in this hole. After the fire dies down place
the beans/lentils in a cast iron pot with a cover. Now this pot goes in
the hole and covered with a layer of soil. Hours later (or so) dig your
pot out and prepare for some of the best dinning west of the Mississippi.
