Frank,
I have clocked the downward progress of the "flamefront" in a T-LUD of 6mm diameter
wood pellets at a torrid 1.5mm per minute. This speed is adjustable with primaryair.
I have also "frozen" the process by cappilary water from the bottom. This shuts off air,
swells the pellets, and allows for carefull excavation. The reaction zone was flat
across the 45cm chamber diameter and the distance between raw wood pellets and
completely charred wood pellets (the reaction zone) was about 2cm. I don't know how
the depth changes with "speed".

Regards Alex
