Thanks for the suggestion Sherwood.

In our semi-arid climate, that kind of rood extension may not be
necessary, but from a usability perspective, an attached
semi-protected space makes a lot of sense.

Our construction has been delayed by the massive run-up in
construction prices. Demand is so high due to the oil boom, that it
would make sense for me to quit my job and work on our house full
time. If that happens, I may be asking questions here on a much more
regular basis.
