I guess, as long as you are not the worker doing the mixing.  Especially in a political economy that doesn't value OSHA regs much.   And we can all pray for divine intervention if one of the train cars full of one or the other of those chemicals doesn't tip over in your town.  Externalizing the costs is the corporate game that costs us soooo much.

  Polystyrene may be made from vinyl and benzene, that doesn't mean it is 
  vinyl and benzene.  Salt is made from sodium and chlorine (ok. sort of 
  made from), two toxins.  I don't know the chemistry. but it is 
  important.  Producing one relatively harmless substance out of two 
  toxins would be a win, I think.
