[Strawbale] paint on outside in side of stucco

I worked with some regular stucco guys and we used portland and masonry
cement, about equal portions. We got some slight cracking, but I plan
to just touch it up with my STO finish. STO does a lot of cement
finishes and you might call them to see what is breathable for your
exterior finish coat.

I got the following response to one of my questions from someone who
has stuccoed 100 straw bale homes regarding interior finish:
" Well  Dube's (my stuccoers) can do two coats of a cement plaster
inside (a slick finish with a trowel), a inexpensive and fast way to
do a finish coat rent texure sprayer from home depot or hire a
painter to mix drywall mud and primer paint ( no need for the Plaster
Weld ), hit it lightly with a drywall knife or trowel for little knock
down look, two birds with one stone, finish coat and paint (the
priming) over that, then any color in the rainbow with indoor paint.
For a smooth finish hand trowel a thin layer of drywall mud over the
Plaster Weld ( a brand of glue ) which goes on the cement second coat (
slick finish ), the use a drywall sanding sponge to sand down the
ridges. Then white priming paint and your favorite sheen and color of
indoor paint.  Dube's may have reciepe of a lime plaster to go over for
the second coat not using the glue. Your first coat should be a cement
plaster. You should have the same permeability as the outside wall
material. "

I find stuccoing to be a very difficult job and if you can find a way
to get some professional help, they certainly have a lot of experience
making the job easier and ending up with a very nice finish.

Best of luck!
