Breathability!!!!  Maybe you should think about FIRE!!!  Wood shakes are
about the most dangerous outer covering you could choose.  And don't think
that just because they are treated with retardant that that will last
forever.  They dry out and periodically have to be re-treated to keep any
sort of fire retardation.
