You've heard of Médecins Sans Frontières.
You may have even heard of Builders Without Borders.
And now, it appears that we have Moisture Monitors Without Spectacles.

================= Forwarded Material========================
From: "Jakub Wihan" <kuba at jakubwihan.com>

Hello,

I'm currently researching materials for my thesis about moisture transfer
in straw bale walls. I was involved in monitoring moisture damage in straw
bale wall, that got soaking wet all the way through, due to driving rain.
It happened last December and even though house is now being normally
used, the relative humidity in the middle of the wall reads still 80%.
Straw samples taken from the location of monitoring after 10 months of
high relative humidity show no signs of decomposition. As my daily
activity now, consists of writing and thinking about moisture in straw
bale walls, I was appealed to join this group, even though I don't wear
spectacles. I hope that more people will sign up to this forum
[ SB_Nerds-r-Us ] and suggest to write about it to GSBN. I'd also support
the creation of "rotten straw bale" website. I think it is necessary to
join our efforts, so that everyone who's thikning of building SB house
would be able to see the consequences of bad quality design and execution.

Best wishes,

Kuba

I did forward the SB_Nerds intro message to the GSBN List the other day
but I don't know if it made it through, which is a good possibility since
the GSBN List majordomo seems to have problems with my edresses due to the
munging that I include in my "reply to" fields.

But just to clarify, the SB_Nerds-r-Us Listserver should be used primarily
for data storage and technical development discussions.

Any comments, observations, discussions and hihowaryas should still be
carried out on the main SB Lists so as to include a maximum audience.

That being said, I think that it may be appropriate to utilise the
SB_Nerds-r-Us site to store photos of moisture-damaged strawbale (ie
rather than create a separate "Rotten straw bale" site) but that will be
up to the SB_Nerds listmembers to decide.
