Hey all,
I have a couple of worksheds in the backyard and they are currenlty
walled with plywood that is obviously starting to decay. When I was
rebuilding parts of
our wood privacy fence my wife suggested using the old pickets on the
worksheds to give them a rustic look and protect the plywood. I said
we could cover
in tarpaper first and then use the old pickets followed by stain.
I brainstormed the other day and thought, hey, we are thinking of
stuccoing the wood house one day - why not give it a try on the
worksheds first. The wife agreed
so we have scraped the picket idea (at least for the moment).
1) So, has anyone stucco'd over plywood? If so, any tips, suggestions ...
2) Should I attach tarpaper first then mesh before starting to stucco
or leave the tarpaper out (to further protect the plywood from moisture)?
3) Should I stucco to ground level (I know if I were using straw I
would not stucco to the ground to prevent rot of the bales but am not
certain about plywood). I should
mention that the sheds are on a slope and one end is at ground
level and the other end is about 11/2 feet - 2feet off the ground and
supported by blocks. I could use
bricks, ciderblocks, or rock as a skirting before stuccoing if
need be. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance,
Lance
