Chris,
It depends upon what you want to do with it. There are two or three
manufactured in the US. If you are gong into business testing homes buy one. If you are
only going to use it to find leaks in your home, either rent one or get a
big*** fan, like a blower out of an old heating system(larger the better) and
hook it up to your front door. There are How to Use it manuals available (I
think) from the manufacturers on the web or articles in old Home Energy magazine.
You have to try to block up all the necessary holes(chimneys, fna vents, dryer
vents etd) before you do it and it is really important to turn off any gas
appliances first. You could probably copy the design of one and buy the parts,
but calibrating it might not be possible, unless you could test it along side of
a calibrated one?.
One of the manufacturers is Minnesota Blower Door.

Does anyone have a link to something which could tell me how to build
and use a blower door testing rig?
Thanks in advance,
Cheers,
Chris Green.
