We have frequently installed systems with both Takagi and Bosch tankless
heater used as boilers in conjunction with large water storage tanks and a
pump loop. When the water in the storage cools, the pump is activated and
runs water through the heater until it's back up to temperature. With a
heating coil, and/or temperature reduction valve, we can use this same
heater for domestic water.
These are very common systems, and we've had good results with them. The
Takagi offers a "plug and play" unit which has most of the controls needed.
