[Strawbale] Global warming

Actually, it simply isn't necessary that everyone agree on all the details.

As I remarked in a private email to another list member, I have plenty
of reasons to be strongly in favor of reduced fossil fuels use whether
it turns out that Man's part of climate change is as substantial as so
many believe it is.

Simply from a pollution and non-renewable resource standpoint, I
arrived at that conclusion very long ago...actually, far earlier than
the present global warming argument first reared its head in public.
In fact, back during the vogue of the "global cooling" discussions.

However, I think it is important to note the absolute stupidity of
labeling anyone who may not agree as being "evil" in motives or
character. This is so common today--people *know* that *their* motives
are pure, so they assume that anyone who doesn't subscribe to their
own theories must therefore be completely ignoble in their motives.

This is such an ineffective and counterproductive approach that I
hardly know where to start.

Let's face it--whatever someone's reason for taking actions that
result in the same outcome might be, why needlessly antagonize them?

Or, if one is *really* trying to actually *convince* anyone--I believe
it is far better to start from a more reasonable foundation.

Other people, even those who don't necessarily agree, have families
too. They also breathe the same air, and drink the same water. It is
rather amazing how a little acknowledgment of the same basic needs and
perceptions can go a long way to persuasion if that is truly what is
wanted.

On the other hand, there are legions of those who don't seem to care
about actually convincing anyone. They seem to be so agitated by any
*perceived* disagreement with their positions and so hopelessly inept
at convincing argument that they mindlessly attack any who deigns to
disagree.

As for Ron's misreading of my post and his subsequent attempt to
assail my logic, I will say no more than to say he is a misguided
hothead. He should save his emotional rhetoric for someone who may be
similarly limited in reasoning ability.
