Anyone know anything about using safflower straw? After researching a better solution for cat boxes and cat litter it looks like using safflower seeds as litter is the best, healthiest and cheapest solution.

But we don't grow very much here in the states. Safflower seeds have huge amounts of oil in them and do not absorb moisture and can be rinsed and reused as litter for several months before they need to be replaced. They degrade and do not fill landfills.

It would be nice if the straw is usable also then we might grow more. Also, it is drought tolerant and doesn't require as much water as wheat to produce the seeds.

Just a thought.
