Last I heard, old JoE "Septic-fed" McCabe is still alive and kicking and  
was ensconced in the Sacramento Home for Ancient BaleHeads and was  
spending his days in the common room wandering about aimlessly, accosting  
innocent bystanders, grabbing them by the shoulders, shaking them and  
screaming wide-eyed into their startled faces (with what's left of his  
raspy voice):

   "The actual thermal resistivity depend upon density and moisture  
content!"

So you can probably contact JoE directly and ask him for a copy of his  
thesis. (I've copied him on this message. We'll just have to see if he's  
still lucid enough to use email).

Or, if that's too scary a proposition for you,  I'm almost certain that  
the Canadian Housing Information Centre (CHIC) library at CMHC still has  
copies of both and if you email CHIC, they could likely fix you up with  
what you need.

I just checked the DCAT website and I didn't see any indication that DE  
and the boys carried those papers anymore.
