Hahaha funny. Yes, dirt is better outside, but not inside. Its absorbency is the problem. It turns to mud, sound familiar?
Mud is nasty and stinky when it is wet, and it sticks to feet, floors, furniture, and people. Dirt is also very heavy wet or dry and difficult at best to scoop. Dirt is dusty and floats in the air and can be inhaled as most scoopable litters can be inhaled.
We use mud to make homes with, not kitty litter. Yuuuuk.
Using safflower seeds for litter is not new and provides a collection system for medical research if your cat is diabetic and takes insulin. OK?

So I take it no one has come across safflower straw bales? I was wondering if they would have more oil in the stem then wheat does, be more resistant or more flammable.
I guess I will grow some this spring and find out. Growing safflower saves on resources (water) and could give three products, straw, oil and seeds. Making all three cheaper.
Safflower oil is a big sales item and we don't produce very much here in the states, most is imported.
Ok, jumping off the soap box and heading back to work on the cob statues by the fountain......
