Hi Craig,
Very kind of you to offer comment on this question, thank you ! The plans I am using are to found on the net at North Dakota State University extension service , www.ag.ndsu.nodak.edu -CONSTRUCTION PLANS, . Scroll down the list of plans and click on to Plywood Rigid Frames 24' to 48' vertical or slant wall. APAW-485.
I'll be building either the 24' or 32' span straight wall truss. Either 8' 0r 10' leg height and using 2"x10" Spruce. I sawed these a full 2"x10" and since our mill is a band saw type they are quite accurate dimensionally so I won't be planing them. The snow load I'm aiming for is 30 psf and so the arches will be spaced at the appropriate distance apart to achieve that strength. Haven't calculated that out yet, sorry !
If you need any more info just ask away and I'll be more than happy to oblige. The osb I have in stock ( in rather large quantity, for me ,at least,! ) is 3/8" and 3/4". I have noticed that osb is used as the web member of TJI joists in new house construction hereabout and some of those 2"x11,1/2" TJI's are pretty long which got me thinking there might be significant strength in the osb when teamed up with 2x's in the right configuration. The osb rim boards used to tie the ends of the TJI's are something else as well, 60' long about 1,1/4" thick and all one piece, I'm impressed !
Thanks again and cheers, Ken.
