Roman shades are "fold-up" rather than roll up. The ones which I am
considering are cloth with an inner layer of insulation. As you pull
the cord, they sort of go up like a set of bi-fold doors, but with
dozens of folds.
Your idea sounds super, although I am a little bit fuzzy on whether
this trim piece will make the plastering of the window bucks much
harder to do. Maybe do something like embed a wood strip for
attaching the trim piece into the bale wall, and use it as a plaster
"thicknesws gauge", so that the plaster will leave the very top of it
exposed to attach the trim piece to.
thanks,
