Kathy,
Thank you for your kind words. We are excited, but still have a long way to go.
Today's excitement involved epoxy and All-Thread. And lifting things. No
shoveling yet, but it's still early. Dumpster-diving is planned for this
evening---a local stone fabricator has said we can take whatever we want
from his dumpsters for our flagstone floor. So my girlfriend jumps into the
dumpster while I stand outside and point.
Who says we ain't romantic?
Posts and beams (except a 32' glu-lam) for the interior beneath our
cupola/clerestory go up tomorrow. The big beam is getting set on Wednesday.
Our building inspector has been great---he was up here yesterday about the
epoxy and All-Thread setting---he got out of the truck, asked if I was
going to do the work, and when I said yes, said, "Great. We're done." Then
we talked about other crap.
Had a bad night on the 4th as fireworks are legal here. Nothing says
freedom like booze and explosives. I dragged the garden hose over to the
site, then slept on and off until 4am, waiting to see if anyone was going
to land a bit of artillery on the bales. Not a thing, though not for lack
of trying.
