I thought I had taken this thread
offlist with my previous reply, but I see that I didn't. Oops.

Straw bale building is one sort of
building that can make sense and perform well.
And IMO it's easier to screw them up than build
them well, even for smart people. There is a
learning curve. For some it's steeper and longer
than for others. Doesn't mean we're on a list full of dummies, though.

To me, your warning - though given in
good spirit - was sort of like pointing out that
if a person wants fresh air to come in through
the window, they have to open it - and will have
to shut it again later if they don't want rain to
come in. To me, it seemed just that obvious. (And
if it wasn't obvious to a given individual, they
would have been confronted with the Terms and
Conditions document on the service's website,
would have had to fill in the forms, and would
have been required to give their credit card
number before they could download anything. If
they didn't figure out the system by that time, I
don't think that any warning I might have included would have worked, either.)

You felt that it wasn't obvious,
however, and did what you felt moved by
compassion to do. Then I remarked on it (when I
really should have known better), and here we
are. I subsequently had fun discussing our
individual drivers, but now that it seems to be
degenerating into petty semantics and insulting
insinuation, I'm not inclined to play anymore.

>Everyone here has common sense

Never claimed that. I believe that
you're just trying to support a position now.

Had I said that, I would have been wrong.

I didn't assume that - and am awed by
how you managed to make that Evel Knievel leap. :)

Wavy Gravy's a trip (pun intended, but
not required). I don't get the 'people'
reference, however. Does it have something to do
with the Hog Farm? Yeah, Hugh Romney... there's a
guy with some fun history. Too bad his lingering
notoriety is so connected to the "Don't eat the
brown acid" thing. He's done so much more good in the world.
