My apologies for cross posting today, but the following links will be of
interest to many of the members of the green- and strawbale building
lists, especially the newer members.
The International Code Council recently released a set of standards for
log homes an other log structures, which may interest some of you. The

Their website also has an article by Bruce King, C.E., published in the
Building Safety Journal of May-June, 2004, about straw bale houses.
Under the topic of fire safety, Mr. King uses the interesting analogy of
comparing burning straw bales to burning telephone books.

To be honest, I haven't read all the material here, other than the DB
article, but this site seems to be another source for a lot of useful
information and worth bookmarking. Especially if you're going to be
dealing with building inspectors... :-)
