[Strawbale] PEX tubing in floors

I was thinking of putting PEX in all floors, because I
have them open, I dout many would remove the ceilings
to install PEX.
I was surprised to make it through winter as easily as
I did with single walls (no plaster/drywall) and a 8"
of snow this winter.
I have heard that the 1 gallon and I think the 2 1/2
are good for storage and recovery of heat. However, if
I use the PEX in the floor to deliver the heat to the
storage area, I could store heat in 55 drums in the
basement. I can get the drums free from Harry and
David in Medford, they have steel ones lined with
plastic, I believe, that contained corn syrup. I could
build a skinny room for them and they have 2" and 3/4"
bung holes that accept a normal male adaptor plumbing
fitting, so they could all be connected together
If the are 30" wide and sideways (so I could place the
bung hole for drainage) they are 30" tall I could have
about 9 barrels side by side, and 8' tall I could have
3, 3 x 9 = 27 x 55 gallon = 1485 gallons. Off the top
of my head, I think I would need a lot more than that,
but I have no experience or engineer abilities. We
just used a regular 40 gallon domestic water heater
this winter with one @ 1/2" x 600' open loop system
and it worked fine. when it got real cold and we had 4
people taking showers the electric bill was $500 per
month, so I could always use the old water heater if
the solar storage didn't work. There is a 20' box
truck that I could use to get the barrels with ... I
am just thinking out loud.
I did have an consultation with a A/C expert who
thought a 3 ton unit would cool the place, if it were
sealed with new windows and doors proper insulation
and drywall. I am kind of getting used to the drafts
though. A mouse came in for 3 nights a month ago, but
left on his/her own. "What? my house ain't good enough
for ya?!" I got the traps out but nothing else was
eaten, etc. so my mom eat the peanut butter. I won't
touch the stuff myself; Aflatoxin!
Cheers,
Shody
