Solar panels to supply summer hot water is definitly a good idea. In
most cases the temperatures are high enough to avoid Legionairs and the
system can be kept simple because you don't have to take care of winter
de-icing.

Rene: If one wants to avoid the de-icing problem in the winter, instead of
running water through the solar hot water collector, use propylene glycol,
run it in the house into a hot water tank into the coils inside there. That
will heat the water in the tank. This way, it shouldn't freeze. Please, you
people with more experience in this, would like to hear your viewpoint.
- Kathy
