Yes, most of us feel odd about faux-anything. I dislike fake shutters on 
suburban homes, for example.

All of the cordwood in the project is real except for the arch portion 
over the door. The intent was to make it real but time constraints on 
the design (that is, construction began before the design was finalized) 
forced a compromise. Such things happen, and it was a learning experience.
