I know those as "slip forms."

One could, but at some point adding more insulation, especially in the
walls, gives you diminishing returns for your effort. At some point,
you'll hit zero. Also, ramming all this material, especially on a large
building like the one you're planning, would take a long time. One could
use the wider Jumbo bales. I've seen some 4' wide this year...the
trailer carrying them was parked at the truck stop, so I did measure
them. That's something like R-90....

Yesterday I was Sunday driving around looking at things (land for sale)
and on the top of the old Wallhachin bridge, there's and old osprey/
fishhawk nest. Been there for years, and Mr. Osprey adds to his nest
every year. I notice he's been picking up bits of the large 1/4 or 3/8's
baler twine the 4' wide bales are tied with and adding to his nest,
making it more fashionable for any potential Mrs. Osprey. :-) The
strands drop down maybe 8' from the nest.
Strange coincidence (?), but this bridge is only a half mile past...Bale
Road.

Yup. Lots of room for experimenting. I believe I've seen this
suggestion on the Organic_Architecture Yahoo Group at some point.

Cheers,
