[Strawbale] Anti Cement Folks / an unsustainable policy

This isn't specifically targetted at anyone, as I can see most
everyone's point of view on this complicated subject. But, it amazes me
when people, typically conservatives (an oxymoron), use the rhetoric
that their way is practical, logical, sensible, or even 'the tough but
necessary choice'. What could be more practical, logical, sensible, as
well as often being the harder thing to do, then attempting not to
pollute the air you and your family need to breathe, the water you need
to drink, the land that grows the food you need to eat. It is not like
you can just decide to breathe something other than oxygen. Sure, you
can buy or steal someone else's water and food if you are so inclined,
but not endlessly. There is nothing more practical than to aim to tread
lightly on the earth at every possible step. It's not easy and I am
certainly a long way off myself, but to quote the most useful thing any
professor ever said to me, "You have to have a Northern Star to guide
you; it doesn't mean you will reach it."
