That's an interesting idea... If you're willing to try something a little different, there's a lot of possibilities that open up!

Another cheap alternative to cabinets is to do what my friend did. He
built inexpensive frames and used corrugated metal for the cabinets.
They look cool and they are cheap to build!!

"all" of it might mean enough for a year or enough till next Thursday
but
perhaps you dont jug Hare or hang antelope for a few weeks ?

Upper cabinets are just nice because they look much neater than piles of

dishes on shelves everywhere.

A pantry is not necessarily ONLY for food in either case... You could of

course store the dishes you bring out for Christmas or New Years eve
only in
there leaving the "daily" dishes to be stored above the sink (where they
are
put instantly after hand washing in the sink(s) This depends on how many

people there are in the house of course but a rack for 20 dishes would
cover
soup dinner risotto and side dishes for 5? Still no need for cabinets...
5
cups ( and saucers if you're civilised ) on a separate shelf also
Neither
can gather grease or dust as they are used every day wine glasses hung
beneath a shelf...no "piles" anywhere and no need to endlessly open and
close
doors you have to walk over to to get things
"Neater"can be countered with "more efficient" "more visually
stimulating"
"less suburban" "less oppressive"?
