I saw this guy on an PBS episode a few years back called "This Old
Pyramid", in which
they tried their best to show how theories of pyramid construction
were practical. The
big debates the ramp/drag method vs. the leverage/block incrementally
method. They actually
built a small on the pyramid to test the hypothesis.
What they found of course was that both methods were needed. The
subtle humour is the
best part of the show.
At one point they have this guy in there telling the Egyptologist his
theory (french accent
included). And the Egyptologist simply says: "And how do you account
for the all the chisel
marks on every side of every stone?"
And he replies:
"....<pregnant pause>... obviously, I still have some things to work
out....".
Anyway, a quick google search turned up this rather thorough
discussion of the
find:

And now back to strawbales.
