Now is a good time to think about a subscription to The Last Straw journal,
or back issues loaded with information past and present, or the searchable
TLS CD-Rom containing 10 years of issues.
Current prices are listed below - but due to recent changes in postal
regulations, there has been a significant increase in postage costs, so a
rate increase for mailing subscriptions and back issues will probably go
into effect in 2008. Buy now and save! And help support The Last Straw!
Four-issue subscription in print format (black and white photos, bound copy)
= $32 U.S. and Canada; $36 Other Countries - (includes shipping/handling
costs)
Four-issue subscription online (pdf format, color photos when available,
unbound sheets when printed, need password to access) = $24 All Countries
Back Issues #1 through #57 = $8.00 each plus shipping and handling (North
America: $3 for one issue; $5 or two issues; $7 for three to four issues; $9
for five to ten issues; $13 for 11 to 20 issues; more than 20 - contact the

and handling for all countries is included in the price.
You can place your order online at www.thelaststraw.org or by printing out
the order form from the web site and mailing it with your payment
information to the TLS office at GPFS/TLS, PO Box 22706, Lincoln NE
68542-2706 USA - or fax to 402.483.5161 - or call the TLS office at
402.483.5135 any time day, evening or weekend.
Donating a subscription, back issues or the CD to your codes and community
officials, builder, architect, engineer, designer, design/builder, realtor,
appraiser, lender, banker or others involved in your project is a good way
to educate those who will help you make your project a success.
Donating a subscription to your local public library, community college or
university library, local housing authority, developers, neighborhood
association, green building group will help show community leaders and
residents the benefits of building naturally and living sustainably.
We are always looking for distributors who will help make The Last Straw
available for marketplace purchases. Distributors are billed at 50% discount
plus shipping/handling for a minimum of five copies or any number you want
to order for distribution through your business, association or nonprofit
group. Unsold issues may be returned for credit but the distributor pays
return shipping costs. Call the TLS office at 402.483.5135 any time for more
information.
The Last Straw journal is the international 40-page quarterly journal of
strawbale and natural building. The journal was first published in 1993 and
continues to be the place to go for the technical and general information
about design, construction methods, regulations, tips and techniques. The
articles, project pages, tech tips, book and product reviews are written by
people who are involved in strawbale and other natural building including
cob, papercrete, earthbag, rammed earth, balecob, cordwood, light
straw/clay, bamboo, ecocomposites and other building materials/methods;
earthen floors, and all types of plasters and coatings; site selection and
design; and much more. Periodically updates are published on codes and
permits; insurance and financing; new products including straw-bale wall
panel systems; sustainable systems for heating, cooling, ventilation, water
conservation and waste management. The journal serves as a recorded history
of strawbale and natural building since its revival in the early 1990s.
Watch for announcement of the forthcoming searchable CD of issues 41 through
60 sometime in 2008.
