Seems like if you install the mesh with the wires at a 45 degree?angle, the wall would have lots of shear strength.? Sort of like wire bracing a gate.

I am sure you confirmed this, but I thought I should mention it. Many farm
suppliers carry 2" x 2" wwm in the 14 gauge. The problem is that the "wwm"
stands for WOVEN wire mesh, not WELDED wire mesh. The woven wire mesh has
absolutely no shear value. So, for what it's worth, please double check to
make sue you did not order woven wire mesh. Good luck.

Have you checked a local farm supply to see what they have ?
Rob Tom: Yes, that's the first place we went. They checked their ordering
books to see if they could locate it, but never were able to get exactly
what
we wanted. Yesterday, we got a catalog in the mail from Farm Tek, who
we've
purchased from before. My hubby was thumbing thru it, and VOILA! He found
it! He ordered it over the phone, and the price was MUCH, MUCH lower.
Since
this SB house will be the first one in this area, our codes dept. here is
pretty sceptical on the way we build it. They're wanting super strong
walls,
and think the wire is the best way to go. It was either this wire, or 3
rebars per bale, and we think the wire is cheaper, and easier to do, as the
roof
will go on before the bales, and it would be almost impossible to put rebar
in
the top bales because the roof would be in the way! We chose the lesser of
2 evils! LOL
I love this Strawbale list. Everyone is so helpful. Thanks for your
reply.
