[Strawbale] hemp vs welded wire -Barbara

Kathy,

I realize you've already ordered your welded wire, but did  you consider hemp
netting?  If you search the archives here or on the  Yahoo bale list, I'm
sure a reference will come up.  Royce Hays used  hemp in his engineered post
and beam California home and I believe it was  specified for shear.  I think
the nailing schedule was the same as that  called out for welded wire in CA
seismic zones, but there is also other shear  in Royce's building (again,
search, and you'll find pictures of the shear -  external diagonals).

Barbara:  No, I never heard of this before.  Sounds  interesting.  Hmmm...is 
it legal here in the USA?  Yeah, I guess it  would be, as long as there's no 
seeds or leaves.  Big controversy there,  but that's another can of 
worms...LOL.  I never tried to check archives  here...I guess I should learn!  I'll try 
to get more time to visit there  soon!
