He also stated he is to build a new mansard roof so he can add a second story.
Thus, it's an "outside job" with the insulation with no roof overhang problems.
I would be loathe to suggest papercrete for a rain cladding, since
paper varies so widely in content and not all would be suitable in a
high-moisture environment--at least not without substantial testing
over several seasons. Going to the expense of building to begin with
and having to replace it in a short time would not be to me an
acceptable procedure.
The Canadian Maritime provinces would seem a rather harsh environment
to be experimenting in. Instead, I'd be a little conservative and use
products and methods already proven over many years to work well.
