[Strawbale] Oak Debarking?

Hello, all.

I tried this on the Greenbuilding list, and got one reply,
offering to sell me a used debarking device (which I bought).

However, I'd rather do it the easy way. So, my original question:

Just felled some oak (northern red), which, starting in a few
weeks, will act as posts for the extension of the roof.

I recall that last time, when I did this, I waited too long to
de-bark, and it was a pain in the rear because the bark had adhered
very closely to the wood, with the result that my posts and beams
still have bits of bark and such on them, to this day.

So they're sitting there, and I haven't cut the slash off, so
that transpiration will assist with drying. How long can I leave
them before the bark adheres?
