[Strawbale] solar hot water - holding tank?

2" might be enough, depending on how well the solar
panels heat the water. 2" should be around R 10 or R
15, as I recall. I myself would build a frame and put
cellulose in it as it could have a lot more Rs for the
same price and cellulose is made from rrcycled
material. It depends if the heat escaping from the
tank will heat your house when you want it cooler
inside and a lot of other factors, such access to the
tank and room around the tank, amount of days that are
too cloudy and amount of hot water you use, of coarse.
